IAC works to ensure our support teams are available to help our customers when they need us. That includes after business hours and on weekends. On Saturday, December 11, IAC Project Manager Mark Wallace received an email from a customer, following their call to the IAC emergency line, which Sales Manager Eric Huggins received. The customer’s baghouse had a malfunction which took the facility completely offline.

“They had two explosion relief panels rupture and outside air and moisture had been sucked into the system. This outside air then fouled the filters,” Huggins said.

The moisture from outside the baghouse created wet conditions on the filters, which can cause filters to blind or lead to muddy conditions on them. This coupled with the ruptured explosion relief panels caused the entire system to go down at a loss of thousands of dollars an hour. Wallace said within an hour of receiving the email, he drove to IAC’s warehouse to check inventory.

“If what we needed wasn’t there, I would see what item would work in this emergency situation,” he said. “I was able to confirm we had the explosion relief panels and we happened to have an order of another pleated element that could be shipped to them for use to get them running again.”

While the 32 pleated filters were not the exact length the customer normally used, Wallace said they would still be able to get back online. He then packaged the items and found a shipper to pick up and deliver in the same day.

“It was about 6 hours of my day, but they are a long-term customer and they are important,” Wallace said.

With Wallace’s quick action, the same day shipping, delivery, and installation by the customer had the facility returned to full capacity within 15 to 20 hours.

“This story just gets better. Mark was able to arrange a pickup, ship, and have everything delivered the same day,” said Huggins. “He went above and beyond by taking the initiative to go to the warehouse and we have a happy customer.”

Wallace said the customer, an ethanol plant, has now requested a site visit from IAC for the first time because they were so impressed with the quick turnaround from our sales team.

“It’s not that a problem occurred. It’s how you deal with it,” Wallace said.

If you experience an after-hours emergency, call 913-384-5511 and wait for the prompt to be connected to the 24/7 Response Team.
