Engineered Thermal Processing Systems

IAC designs, fabricates, and installs complete thermal processing systems that meet the demanding requirements of industrial drying, calcining, and energy recovery operations. Each system is developed around the customer’s material characteristics, production goals, and plant environment to ensure consistent performance and long service life.

As both an Original Equipment Manufacturer and an EPC contractor, IAC provides vertically integrated project execution from design through commissioning. This single-source approach eliminates coordination gaps and keeps projects on schedule. Whether you need a single rotary dryer, a low-temperature biomass system, or a full plant-scale installation, IAC delivers efficient, reliable solutions built to perform in continuous duty conditions.

Our experience spans a wide range of feedstocks and process needs, including minerals, cement, biomass, frac sand, and industrial byproducts. With in-house engineering, fabrication, and field service teams, IAC supports the entire lifecycle of your thermal process equipment—design, installation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance.

For related information, see EPC Services and Air Pollution Control Equipment, which often integrate directly with IAC’s thermal systems to form complete process solutions.

How Thermal Processing Systems Work

Thermal processing systems apply controlled heat to remove moisture, drive chemical reactions, or prepare materials for downstream use. The method and equipment configuration depend on the material properties, required final moisture content, and available energy sources.

Direct-fired systems introduce hot gases directly into the process stream. They are efficient for high-volume materials such as aggregates, sand, and biomass, where rapid moisture removal and high throughput are essential. IAC’s rotary drum dryers use carefully engineered internal flighting to maximize heat transfer and reduce product carryover, ensuring even drying with low fuel consumption.

Indirect-fired systems separate the heating medium from the product, providing a more controlled environment for temperature-sensitive materials like catalysts, chemicals, or biochar. These systems can use steam, thermal oil, or recovered waste heat, minimizing emissions and reducing the risk of product contamination.
In both designs, airflow control, exhaust handling, and dust collection are integral to safe, efficient operation. IAC’s gas conditioning and filtration equipment—including cyclones, baghouses, and dry sorbent injection systems—capture particulates and acid gases for regulatory compliance and environmental performance.

Rotary Drum Dryers

Rugged, high-capacity dryers designed for consistent performance with coarse or fine solids. Custom internal flighting improves material curtain formation, optimizing heat transfer while maintaining low operating pressure and fuel use.

Indirect and Calcining Systems

Used for processes requiring controlled heat and minimal contamination, such as torrefaction, catalyst activation, or biochar production. These systems achieve high thermal efficiency with safe, enclosed operation and precise temperature management.

Low-Temperature Dryers

Developed for renewable fuels and waste-heat recovery, IAC’s low-temperature drying systems provide energy-efficient operation with reduced fire risk and low noise levels.

Applications and Industries Served

IAC’s thermal processing systems are proven across a wide range of industrial sectors that rely on efficient drying, heating, or calcining to maintain production quality and output. Each installation is tailored to match the material properties, process requirements, and operating environment of the facility.

Food, Pet Food, and Agricultural Products
Dryers designed for controlled heating, gentle handling, and hygienic operation maintain product integrity and throughput for temperature-sensitive materials.

Across all industries, IAC’s thermal systems are supported by in-house engineering, construction, and field service teams that deliver single-source accountability from concept to commissioning.

EPC Capabilities for Thermal Projects

As a vertically integrated Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, IAC delivers complete turnkey execution for thermal process systems. From initial design through fabrication, installation, and start-up, every phase is managed by IAC’s internal teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.

Our in-house engineers develop system designs that balance performance with energy efficiency, using advanced modeling tools and real-world process data to optimize drying and heat transfer. Fabrication takes place in IAC’s 500,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, allowing strict quality control and rapid response to design adjustments.

Construction and installation are performed by Adelphi Construction LC, IAC’s wholly owned field construction subsidiary. Their crews self-perform civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical work, keeping projects on schedule and aligned with safety and performance standards.

IAC’s EPC approach allows for faster commissioning, reduced coordination between vendors, and long-term reliability supported by a single point of contact. Whether the project involves a plant expansion, system retrofit, or greenfield installation, IAC’s fast-track execution model ensures that every thermal system meets production goals from day one.

Retrofit and Optimization Services

IAC provides retrofit and optimization programs that extend the performance and service life of existing thermal systems while delivering measurable returns in efficiency and production capacity. Whether updating an older rotary dryer, modifying process airflow, or modernizing controls, IAC engineers evaluate every aspect of system performance to identify improvements that provide rapid payback.

Upgrades may include redesigned flighting for better material curtain formation, structural reinforcements for drum longevity, or enhanced ducting to improve baghouse airflow balance. Plants can often achieve a twelve percent or greater increase in feed rate without additional fuel use, along with longer filter life and reduced maintenance downtime.

IAC’s approach minimizes disruption to production through careful planning and coordination with plant operations. Projects are executed by the same fabrication and field service teams that build IAC’s new equipment, ensuring consistent quality and safety standards.

For facilities operating competitive or legacy equipment, retrofit solutions provide a practical path to increased throughput, lower emissions, and greater reliability without the cost of full system replacement.
