Tight outage window? Your baghouse work shouldn't be the reason you run long. In this Tip of the Month, Joe Haney from IAC covers five reasons plants bring in an outside baghouse service team instead of pulling their own crews off critical equipment: Experience: IAC's field service team changes filters and inspects baghouses every week of the year. Freed-up personnel: Your maintenance team stays focused on production equipment during the outage. Speed: Experienced crews help you hold your outage window and avoid extended downtime. Beyond bag change-outs: Airflow balancing studies, life-assessment inspections for aging equipment, dust hazard analysis (DHA), and baghouse operations training. Safety: OSHA and MSHA certified crews, confined space compliant, with a safety focus from arrival to departure. Planning a fall or spring outage? Not sure why your baghouse pressure keeps climbing, or whether an ePTFE membrane filter makes sense for your application? In this month's Tip of the Month, IAC's Joe Haney breaks down the difference between depth and surface filtration and when it's time to consider converting. Depth filtration is how most dust collectors operate: dust builds on the filter, raising both pressure drop and collection efficiency. It works well for most applications, but fine particulate, wet or sticky dust, and tightening environmental requirements can push depth filtration past its limits. That's where surface filtration comes in. Adding an ePTFE membrane to the filter surface creates billions of microscopic openings, small enough to block particulate and moisture while still letting air through. The result: dust collects on the surface rather than embedding in the filter, allowing for more efficient operation, lower sustained pressure, and less mechanical wear over the filter's lifetime. It's not the right call for every baghouse or every application, but for the right conditions, it can be one of the most important decisions you make on your system. Have questions about whether a conversion makes sense for your operation? Talk to an IAC engineer.

In this month's Tip of the Month Video, IAC's Joe Haney breaks down the 5 most important factors in EPC contractor selection for industrial facilities: the questions to ask, the risks to watch for, and why single-source accountability changes everything from engineering through commissioning. Whether you're evaluating contractors for an air pollution control system, a process equipment installation, or a full facility buildout, these 5 factors apply. IAC is a vertically integrated EPC contractor and OEM delivering engineered process systems for demanding industrial operations. With 7,500+ systems in the field and in-house engineering, fabrication, and construction, IAC owns the outcome from spec to startup.

In this month’s Tip of the Month video, IAC’s Lance Lawson walks through practical ways to improve the performance of your sand drying system. A sand dryer doesn’t operate in isolation, t’s part of a fully integrated, negative-pressure system, and each component plays a critical role in overall throughput and efficiency. Lance explains how system adjustments and upgrades can make a measurable impact, including: Selecting the right flame pattern for cleaner, more consistent heat Properly tuning the burner to match your material and moisture load Optimizing the dryer’s internal flighting for better material curtain and heat transfer Increasing discharge box size to reduce restrictions and improve airflow Ensuring your baghouse is sealed and functioning correctly — a major factor in system performance Whether you operate a frac sand plant or any facility relying on rotary drying, these insights can help you increase production, reduce bottlenecks, and extend equipment life. Watch now to learn how small changes can have big impacts on system reliability and output. Don't forget to subscribe to IAC's channel for more Tip of the Month videos!

Your baghouse is a critical part of maintaining air quality, compliance, and plant performance, but not all components wear evenly. In our two-part Tip of the Month series, IAC 's Joe Haney breaks down the major parts of a baghouse system, with a focus on the movable and replaceable components that see the most wear over time. In Part 1, Joe discusses components including filter bags, fan and fan motor, and other high-use elements that often require more frequent maintenance and replacement. Understanding how these components work, why they wear out, and how to properly service them is essential for protecting uptime and avoiding costly downtime. As an OEM and EPC contractor with decades of field experience, IAC not only engineers and fabricates complete baghouse systems, but also stocks over 55,000 replacement parts for rapid shipment. Our service teams are available for inspections, troubleshooting, and filter bag change-outs to keep your system operating at peak efficiency. Stay tuned for Part 2, where we’ll look at structural and longer-life components of a baghouse system.
