IAC to Sponsor and Exhibit at 2026 North American Biochar Conference, Present Technical Paper on Drop Tube Calciner

Overland Park, KS - Steve Baloga, P.E., to present IAC’s patent-pending pyrolysis platform to biochar producers, developers, and carbon-dependent industries in New Orleans

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Oct. 30, 2026 — Industrial Accessories Company (IAC), an EPC contractor, OEM, and process equipment execution specialist, is a Platinum Sponsor and exhibitor at the 2026 North American Biochar Conference (NABC), November 16-18 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Hosted by the American Biochar Institute in partnership with the U.S. Biochar Coalition, NABC brings together biochar producers, project developers, investors, policymakers, and researchers.

Steve Baloga, P.E., New Projects Development Manager at IAC, will present “Integrating Biomass Pyrolysis for Renewable Power and Decarbonized Industrial Products” on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 10:45 a.m. The paper describes a fully integrated biomass conversion facility enabled by IAC’s patent-pending Drop Tube Calciner (DTC) pyrolysis technology. It combines woodyard operations with IAC’s large-scale pyrolysis technology to produce syngas for chemical feedstocks, biocarbon for industrial uses, and recovered process heat for power generation. Co-authors are Michael Jones, Chief Technology Officer; Mike Sedler, Senior Vice President; and Matt Schams, Applications Sales Engineer, all of IAC. Baloga brings 35 years of experience in thermal and chemical process engineering design and construction, including air pollution control, calcining, thermal oxidation, activated carbon production, and hydrogen production projects.

At Booth 509/511 in the Expo Hall, IAC will meet with biochar producers at pilot and commercial scale, as well as steelmakers and chemical manufacturers evaluating renewable carbon, to showcase its core capabilities:

  • EPC and Construction: single-source engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction for biochar and pyrolysis facilities, with field construction self-performed by Adelphi Construction LC, an IAC subsidiary.
  • Thermal Processing: the DTC platform, plus rotary drum dryers in direct-fired, indirect-fired, and low-temperature dryer configurations for feedstock preparation.
  • Feedstock/Product Handling and Storage: woodyard operations, size reduction, pneumatic and mechanical conveying, silos, and loadout systems for biomass feedstock and finished biochar.
  • Emissions Control: baghouses and scrubber operations for chemical recovery.

“Biochar producers are progressing from pilot units to commercial facilities, and the thermal process is where those projects succeed or stall. The paper shows how the DTC is the core of a complete facility, from the woodyard and dryers through energy recovery and carbon handling, and our team at the booth can walk through what that looks like for a specific project,” said Steve Baloga, P.E., New Projects Development Manager, IAC.

Attendees can schedule meetings with the IAC team at Booth 509/511 through the IAC NABC event page.
